The plant pictured in the product images is a representation of the plant you will receive. Anthurium papillilaminum, in its true form, is a stunning terrestrial velvet leaf anthurium with deep green, heart shaped leaves that are densely papillate.
Sale plants were grown from seed from our papillilaminum x parent plant (pictured in the last images). The parent plant produced two inflorescence consecutively, allowing us to use the pollen from one inflorescence to pollinate the other. Hence this plant is both the pollen and seed parent. Not surprisingly, its leaves do look a little worse for wear as it’s been utilising all its energy to produce inflorescence, however you can see its stunning genetics showing through. The dark bullate leaves of the parent plant have large overlapping lobes.
Velvet leaf Anthuriums such as this one need very specific conditions to thrive. This is not an easy care plant. If you live in the southern states of Australia, we recommend a humidifier, greenhouse, or similar to house your velvet leaf anthuriums. These plants are endemic to the tropics, and therefore require warmth and humidity to grow. Some collectors push the limits of these plants, growing them in below optimal conditions, but we don’t recommend this unless you are an experienced grower.
