We grew this stunning hybrid from seeds offered by a grower up north. Parent photos are shown in last two images. You can see that the seed parent has deep green heavily textured leaves, and the pollen parent is a striking black colour with large overlapping lobes and fluorescent lime venation. This plant has deep green foliage similar to its pollen parent, but with more prominent veining. Leaves emerge with pinky-red margins & midrib.
The plant pictured is the plant you will receive.
Velvet leaf Anthuriums such as this one need very specific conditions to thrive. We don’t recommend this plant for all the brown thumbs out there. If you live in the southern states of Australia, we recommend a humidifier, greenhouse, or similar to house your velvet leaf anthuriums. These plants are endemic to the tropics, and therefore require warmth and humidity to grow. Some collectors push the limits of these plants, growing them in below optimal conditions, but we don’t recommend this unless you are an experienced grower.
